What does America see during the Solar Eclipse? I know only Hawaii was the possible place someone could see the solar eclipse. But what did the sun or moon look like in America while the solar eclipse was happening other places?

Which solar eclipse are you referring to?

By browsing the NASA eclipse website, I presume you are referring to the 11th July 2010 total solar eclipse, for which the path of totality falls largely on the Pacific Ocean, making landfalls only on a few small islands, including Easter island.

In fact no part of the USA, even Hawaii experiences even a partial solar eclipse on 11th July 2010. In answer to your question, the sun will appear in the sky as normal, and the moon will be invisible since it will be entirely unilluminated and in any case too close to the sun to be observable.

The next total solar eclipse which has totality in the USA will be 21st August 2017. After that it's 8th April 2024. Any American IAYCers up for organising an eclipse reunion?

Failing that we'll have to wait until the 2026 IAYC eclipse reunion, which we can have in Spain (12th August), and then again the following year in 2027, where totality falls across the southern tip of Spain and several North African countries on 2nd August.

The 2006 eclipse reunion was great, really got me back into the world of IAYC after what was one of the great regrets of my life, missing IAYC 2005 in favour of a very boring summer job.

Let's make the reunions in '26 and '27 even better! And maybe even '28 down under in Australia!
