We are happy to share some first bits of information about the IAYC 2012 with you:

It will take place from the 5th August 2012 - 25th August 2012 in Eichendorf, Germany. It is located around 150 km north-east of Munich, the capital of the region Bavaria. The campsite itself is a bit outside of Eichendorf on a small hill to ensure minumum light pollution.
In order to get a first idea about the observation conditions, we provide GPS coordinates: +48° 38' N, 12° 51' E.

The location Eichendorf and the camphouse itself qualified as a perfect IAYC location back in 2002 and we decided that after a decade of absence it is time to bring some nightly activity back to this beautiful and peaceful place.
Unless you are afraid of our only neighbors there is nothing that will stop you from having a great time. We will have an observation field with great seeing down to the horizon from dusk till dawn...
...until sunrise wakes you up - or not even that.

We will stay in a cosy camp house that provides plenty of space for all of us in a partly Bavarian style.

Working groups will span a wide range from practical and theoretical astronomy, physics or engineering at any level from beginner to experts, we will offer projects that suit everyone, even if you do not have a specific background in the area of your working group.

The first info together with the application form will be online in a few weeks, be sure to check back.
Happy to see you this summer in Eichendorf,
The leaderteam of the IAYC 2012
